Torus conventions

To find a tune in the index, consider a tune as a sequence of jumps up or down, encode this sequence as a sequence of us and ds, then use this sequence to find the tune in the index. Some conventions:

An example

Consider the tune Happy birthday to you. Ignoring the two notes on Happy, the first complete bar starts on birth. The tune jumps down from birth to day, so the sequence starts with d. The tune then jumps up from day to to, so the sequence becomes du.

Continuing, the sequence of jumps is

(Happy) birth- day to you, Hap- py birth- day to ...
d u d d u u d u ...

So, if you enter the sequence dudduudu in the search box on the main page then Torus will find the tune Happy birthday to you (amongst others).
